Using more than one Instagram account is normal now. You may keep a personal profile separate from a shop, manage a client account, or run a project without mixing its messages and drafts with your main profile. Instagram lets you add accounts to the same app, so there is no need for unofficial cloning apps or repeated logins.
How many Instagram accounts can you add?
Instagram allows you to add and switch between up to five accounts in the app. That limit is useful for most creators, small teams and business owners. You can switch between accounts without logging out of the others, which makes everyday tasks like answering messages or checking notifications much less disruptive.
Add another Instagram account
Open Instagram and go to your profile. Tap your profile name or the account switcher near the top of the screen, then choose Add Instagram account. From there, you can log in to an existing account or create a new one. Follow the prompts and complete any security checks before the account is added.
Menu labels can look slightly different after an app update, but the account switcher remains the quickest place to start. If you cannot find it, open the profile menu and look for Add account in the login or account settings area.
Switch between accounts
Once an account has been added, return to your profile and tap your username at the top of the screen. Select the account you want to use. Instagram changes profiles without asking you to sign out, so each account keeps its own feed, notifications, messages and drafts.
Keep accounts secure
Use a different, strong password for every account and turn on two-factor authentication, especially for business or client profiles. Be careful when you choose to save login information on a shared device. Saved logins are convenient, but they also make it easier for someone else using the phone to open an account.
Accounts can be connected through Meta Accounts Center for features such as linked experiences or cross-posting. Only connect accounts you genuinely control, and review the sharing options there so you understand what information and actions are linked.
Managing several accounts without losing the thread
Give each profile a clear purpose. A personal account, a brand account and a client account should not all sound or post the same way. Before you publish, take a second to check the profile icon at the top of the screen. It is a small habit that prevents posting to the wrong account.
