Instagram Story Archive: How to Save and Reuse Stories
Instagram Stories normally disappear from public view after 24 hours, but Story Archive can keep a private record of the Stories you have shared. Use it to revisit campaigns, repurpose strong content, or save a personal moment.
Updated August 2026: menu labels and archive controls can vary by app version, so use Settings search if the wording differs in your app.
Turn on Story Archive
- Open your profile and the menu.
- Open Settings and privacy.
- Look for archive or Story settings.
- Turn on the option to save Stories to archive.
Reuse archived Stories
Add evergreen Stories to Highlights, review past Stories for useful themes, and repost only when the content is still relevant. Add fresh context before sharing again.
Plan better content
Look beyond views alone. Stories that brought replies, link taps, or useful questions can become stronger Highlights or new posts.
